A Neighborhood Breakdown of Atlanta Restaurants Opening in 2021

Despite all of the uncertainties and financial upheaval brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, dozens of Atlanta restaurant and bar owners and food and beverage entrepreneurs plan to open new establishments in 2021.

Alpharetta
Hai Authentic Chinese opens in the former Swagat Indian Cuisine space on Windward Parkway.

Rena’s Italian Fishery and Grill, from the owners of Crust Pasta and Pizzeria, opens this spring at the Maxwell complex off of Alpharetta Highway and South Main Street.

The Ginger Room the juice bar and tea house opens next door to Alpharetta Provisions.

Armour
Victory Brands, the group behind Victory Sandwich Bar, LLoyd’s, and Little Trouble, plans to open a new restaurant concept at the recently opened Indie Studios complex on Ottley Drive.

Bolton
Amar Bien opens at the Westside Village development on Marietta Boulevard as a full-service Mexican restaurant with an emphasis on vegetables.

Corner Grille is opening on Marietta Boulevard in the former Westside Pizza space serving Cajun and Creole fare.

The Woodall opens February 8 at the developing Westside Village at Moores Mill complex on Marietta Boulevard.

Brookhaven
Kathleen’s Catch opens a third location of the seafood market and cafe in March on Clairmont Road.

Buckhead
Fetch the Old Fourth Ward dog park and bar opens its second Atlanta location at Buckhead Village District by spring.

Le Bon Nosh market and all-day cafe opens at the Irby apartment complex this spring.

Storico Vino wine bar, from the owners of Storico Fresco and Forza Storico, opens this winter at Buckhead Village.

Sweetgreen, the billion-dollar salad chain, expands to Atlanta with at least two new locations.

The Betty is billed as a mid-century-inspired supper club at the forthcoming Kimpton Sylvan Hotel opens in mid-February.

St. Julep cocktail bar is located on the ninth floor of the Kimpton Sylvan Hotel.

Willow Bar, located on the ground floor behind the Kimpton Sylvan Hotel, features seating in a garden-like setting with a willow oak tree, floor lanterns, and a fire pit.

Castleberry Hill
Atlantucky Brewing from Southern rap quartet Nappy Roots opens as a microbrewery in the historic downtown Atlanta neighborhood this year.

Neyow’s Creole Cafe, the New Orleans-based restaurant, opens an Atlanta location on Walker Street.

Chamblee
Continent Atlanta and cigar lounge, owned by chef Scotley Innis, opens this winter on Buford Highway.

The Distillery of Modern Art plans to open this spring on Irvindale Way near the Chamblee MARTA station. The building will house a distillery producing vodka, gin, whiskey, and possibly an amaro or herbal liqueur.

Cumming
Cubanos ATL, the tiny house-based Cuban sandwich shop, takes up residence in the parking lot of the Cumming Marketplace shopping complex.

Decatur
Hattie Marie’s Texas Style BBQ expands to Decatur this year.

Hodgepodge Coffeehouse opens another location this spring on the edge of Decatur.

Inner Voice Brewing opens next spring in the former Big Tex restaurant space on West Ponce.

Downtown
Saito: Sushi, Steak, and Cocktails, from Red Phone Booth and Amalfi Pizza owners Stephen de Haan and Greg Grant, along with master sushi chef Saito Saito, opens soon at the century-old Regenstein’s department store, now known as the Department Building.

Duluth
Hattie Marie’s Texas Style BBQ expands to Duluth this year.

Dunwoody-Perimeter
The Hall at Ashford Lane, a nine-stall food hall, opens inside the former Henredon Furniture store at Perimeter Place (soon to be renamed Ashford Lane) on Olde Perimeter Way.

East Atlanta
Hippin’ Hops brewpub opens next to Holy Taco this winter.

Pollo Supremo opens for pollo asado, sides like rice and beans and elote, soup, family meals, and desserts such as churros and flan.

Southern Feed Store, a six stall food hall anchored by Brazilian coffee and cocktail bar Buteco, takes over the former Graveyard Tavern space on Glenwood Avenue this summer.

East Lake
Hippin’ Hops brewpub adds a second location later in the year at the Hosea and 2nd development.

Glenwood Park
Emmy Squared, serving Detroit-style pizza and burgers, opens in the former the Shed at Glenwood space on Bill Kennedy Way this summer.

Pho Cue, the pop-up that mixes Vietnamese flavors with central Texas barbecue, opens as a restaurant later this spring.

Grant Park
Das BBQ barbecue restaurant features 50 percent more seating than the Collier Road location, a larger smokehouse, and a full bar.

Grant Park Eats and Zoo Bar serving pizza and drinks in the former Third Street Goods and Cardinal spaces at the Beacon.

Grove Park
Bankhead Seafood, backed by Atlanta rappers Killer Mike and T.I., opens as a 130-seat, two-story restaurant on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.

Home Park
Hattie B’s hot chicken opens a second Atlanta location at 10th Street and Howell Mill Road.

Inman Park
Painted Park takes over the Brasserie and Neighborhood Cafe at Parish space on North Highland Avenue and will serve food and drinks with expanded outdoor seating and lawn games along the Beltline.

Kirkwood
Bellsmouth Cafe and 3 Heart Coffee Roastery open at the historic Pratt Pullman District development taking shape along Rogers Street.

The Abbey Singer pub opens at the historic Pratt Pullman District, featuring the famed Minneapolis cheese-stuffed burger the “Juicy Lucy”.

Little Five Points
Euclid Avenue Yacht Club, which temporarily closed last March due to the pandemic, could reopen as soon as this spring, and it has a new owner.

Midtown
Big Boss Chinese, owned by Atlanta chef Guy Wong, opens in the former Chinese Buddha space on 10th Street near Georgia Tech.

By Weight and Measure, owned by Johnny Martinez and Brandon Ley (Joytstick Gamebar, Georgia Beer Garden) and Ian Carlson, opens at the Collective at Coda.

El Viñedo Local wine bar and cafe opens this spring on Peachtree Street serving “South American inspired wine, coffee, and small plates.”

Epicurean Atlanta hotel will feature a ground-level restaurant, a cafe with skyline views, and an events space with a high-tech kitchen classroom.

Hobnob Neighborhood Tavern is opening its largest space yet this year, a 9,000-square-foot restaurant overlooking Central Park at Atlantic Station.

Holeman and Finch pub finally reopens this year at Colony Square.

Nagomiya lands on West Peachtree this spring serving rice bowls, sushi rolls, and, ramen.

Politan Row, the upcoming food hall at Colony Square, should see stalls opening by spring. The first stalls opening inside forthcoming Midtown food hall include chef Shaun Doty’s Federal Burger, a second location of Sang Ho’s restaurant Bun Mi Vietnamese Grill, and Rob Green’s smoothie and bowl spot YŌM.

Pour Taproom opens a three-level bar in the former Tap space on Peachtree this spring.

Rumi’s Kitchen opens a third Atlanta location of the Persian restaurant at Colony Square.

Saints and Council, a new restaurant from the CEO of Cafe Intermezzo, opens this summer at Colony Square.

SmoQue Burger burger and sandwich shop opens at the Collective at Coda.

Toscano, from the owners of Sandy Springs Italian restaurant Cibo e Beve, open a new Italian restaurant this year at Atlantic Station.

Old Fourth Ward
Bar Vegan, owned by Pinky Cole of Slutty Vegan, opens in February on the second floor of Ponce City Market.

Biggerstaff Brewing Company opens beside Staplehouse Market on Edgewood Avenue.

Handlebar bar, from the owner of Edgewood Pizza, opens at the corner of Edgewood and Boulevard.

Indulge Gourmet Popcorn opens this spring at Krog Street Market.

Kuro, from chefs Todd Richards and Joshua Lee, opens in the former Hazel Jane’s wine bar space next to Cold Beer. The menu will focus on seafood and serve a mix of Japanese fare and ingredients fused with Soul food dishes

Nashville-based Red Pebbles Hospitality, the group behind Adele’s and the 404 Kitchen, plans to open a restaurant beside Staplehouse Market and forthcoming brewery Biggerstaff Brewing on Edgewood Avenue.

Sweetgreen, the billion-dollar salad chain, expands to Atlanta with at least two new locations.

Peachtree Corners
H&W Steakhouse opens in the former Black Walnut Cafe space on Peachtree Parkway.

Kettlerock Brewing opens early this year, taking over the former Nemoe’s Tavern and Grill space on Peachtree Parkway.

Moe’s Original BBQ, the second Atlanta-area location, opens in March along Peachtree Parkway.

Piedmont Heights
Brooklyn Bagel Bakery opens a second location at Ansley Mall this spring.

Poncey-Highland
Fishmonger seafood market and takeaway cafe opens at the Plaza on Ponce shopping center, home to the historic Plaza Theatre, the Righteous Room, and Southern Belle.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams takes over the former Queen of Cream space at the Plaza on Ponce complex this year.

Jinya Ramen still plans to open at Plaza on Ponce along North Highland Avenue in the back of the complex.

Reynoldstown
Neighborhood Wraps sandwich and smoothie bar opens this spring.

Sandy Springs
Snooze an A.M. Eatery all-day breakfast restaurant opens in February at the Gateway complex on Roswell Road.

Southwest Atlanta
Che Butter Jonez, a food truck owned by Occupy the Hood activist Malik Rhasaan and serving a popular lamb burger, opens soon on Cleveland Avenue next door to a Chevron.

Summerhill
Concept modern American diner still plans to open along Georgia Avenue.

Hodgepodge Coffeehouse should open another Atlanta location along Hank Aaron Drive.

How Crispy Express sandwich shop opens across from Little Tart Bakeshop on Georgia Avenue.

Maepole, the Athens-based quick-serve restaurant, opens later this year across from Wood’s Chapel BBQ on Georgia Avenue.

Press Start, from Char Korean and Girl Diver owner chef Richard Tang, opens as an old school arcade and bar along Georgia Avenue.

Redacted Basement Drink Parlor, the Summerhill conspiracy theory-themed bar, still plans to open along Georgia Avenue.

Sweet Auburn
A new restaurant from Asa Fain, the owner of Downtown restaurant Apache Cafe, opens in a building formerly home to Auburn Avenue Rib Shack and Thelma’s Kitchen and Rib Shack later this year.

Underwood Hills
Chattahoochee Food Works sees the first restaurant stalls opening this winter at the 31-stall food hall.

Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q opens a second location at the Works next to Chattahoochee Food Works.

Round Trip Brewing opens soon along Seaboard Industrial Boulevard, between Atlanta Brewing Company and Second Self Beer Company.

Waffle Experience, a California-based breakfast and brunch restaurant, opens at the Works development along Chattahoochee Avenue in northwest Atlanta.

Virginia-Highland
Farm Burger, the Atlanta-based organic burger restaurant, opens a seventh area location in the former Yeah! Burger space on North Highland Avenue.

Kinship combines the conveniences of a market, butcher, cheese counter, cafe, and wine shop under one roof at the VA-HI building.

Pizza By the Slice, owned by Anthony Spina of O4W Pizza, opens soon at the VA-HI building for Sicilian-style pizza, served by the slice or whole pie, and Jersey-style sub sandwiches.

West End
Edgewood Pizza — the home of “king slices” — opens a second location at the Sky Lofts complex on Oak Street near the West End Mall.

Portrait Coffee, an Atlanta-based roastery, opens at the Lottie Watkins Building on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, one block north of the historic Wrens Nest House Museum.

Rodney Scott’s Barbecue should finally open this year at the Met complex.

Westside-Howell Mill Road/Brady Avenue
Brown Bag Seafood, owned by Chicago restaurateur Donna Lee, opens a second Atlanta location in the former Little Star cafe space at Westside Provisions District.

Cathy’s Gourmet Ice Cream Sandwiches opens at the Interlock, currently under construction across from Westside Provisions District.

Draw Bar opens this spring at the emerging Interlock development. Part of the Bellyard Hotel at the complex, Draw Bar resides off of the lobby on the third floor and features a bar and lounge as well as an outdoor terrace.

Holiday Bar, an open-air bar that takes advantage of the Interlock’s open-container license, opens this spring.

Mujo, the Castellucci Hospitality-backed sushi pop-up, opens next door to Cooks and Soldiers on Howell Mill Road this summer.

Pour Taproom opens at the Interlock across from Westside Provisions District this fall.

SMR Tap bar could open this winter at the emerging Star Metals complex on Howell Mill Road.

Snooze an A.M. Eatery opens a second Atlanta location at the emerging Osprey complex on Howell Mill Road.

Kamayan ATL, the highly popular Filipino food pop-up founded by Mia Orino and Carlo Gan, opens as a restaurant in Atlanta this year.

Nourish Botanica, a sustainable greenhouse cafe owned by Quianah Upton, should open somewhere in South Atlanta by the end of 2021.
